Bo Kaap Hemp Building Project

Hemporium was delighted to be involved in Cape Town’s third hemp building project, a mixed use residential/office space which was built by Wolf, of Wolf and Wolf Architects, who previously collaborated on Hemporium’s hemp house.

This hemp building, situated in the heart of Cape town’s city bowl in the Bo Kaap area, and looks set to be a shining example of eco-conscious practices including rainwater harvesting, a biodigester, a roof-top aquaculture set-up and locally grown hemp building materials.

We think it’s really exciting that around 2.5 tonnes of the shiv (chips of the hemp stalk) being used was grown locally in the Western Cape, as part of the Commercial Incubation Research Trial. Local is lekker!

Here’s looking forward to when we can all grow our homes!
