Hemporium was proud to sponsor the Weskus Parasurf Open hosted by Extreme Abilities.
We supplied hemp textiles for making custom surfboards for the event, as well as hemp clothing and bags for the prize pool.
Here’s what Extreme Abilities Chairman and head coach Albert Millard had to say in the lead-up to the event:
“Thank you very much to Hemporuim for your unwavering support towards our goal of developing surfing on the West Coast. The surfboards of surfers with physical disabilities will get the occasional knock outside the water, more often than not.
Your high-quality hemp cloth, in combination with epoxy resin, makes our custom surfboards extra ding-resistant, keeping us surfing for longer.
These designs are unique to each surfer’s individual needs to best suit their style of surfing. Our team spent the past two years getting physically and mentally fit in preparation for travelling and competitions. With the new surfboards, we can finally work to perfect their surf.
From the 27-29 September Extreme Abilities will host the first Weskus Parasurf Open for all the parasurfers in South Africa as the first inaugural parasurfing event and as a pilot event for the 2025 national championships.”
